What is canyoning?
Canyoning is jumping, sliding, abseiling; it's getting back to the heart of Cévennes National Park, going down a river with majestic waterfalls!
With the help of a harness, ropes and some material, you will cross all the obstacles on your way.
Your instructor will adapt to the level of everyone in the group in order to offer you different alternatives, all super fun !!

For whom ? At what age ?
A concentration of sensations for all those who love eventful holidays.
Everyone needs to know how to swim, the youngest will be able to come safely with adults from the age of 12.
Where is it ? When ?
From Millau, crossroads of the Tarn and Dourbie gorges, join the village of Rousses [map link] in Lozère. About an hour and 15 minutes drive.
To get there, you will go up the sumptuous gorges of the Jonte to Meyrueis. Then towards Mount Aigoual, at the Perjuret pass, you will descend to Florac with a breathtaking view of Mount Lozère. On the right is the branch line to the small village of Rousses.
In order to share and preserve nature, the Tapoul Canyon is closed every Sunday and Monday as well as from 01/10 to 30/04.
Every other day, only the water level can vary the requirement of the adventure. A phonecall is preferred when booking.
Is it hard ?
Yes and no, it is possible to vary the difficulties during the trip.
Unlike water rambling, here the obstacles must be crossed. If you are afraid of heights up to 10 meters, your instructor will be there to offer you a "plan B" using the rope, such as a abseiling or going down a zipline. The solidarity and good humour of the group will make you discover your unsuspected abilities!
How long does it last ?
Plan half a day.
In summer, access to the river will be by shuttle (3.50€/pers) from the village, it drops us off 200m from the start of the canyon.
The descent of this exceptional stream will last about 2 hours and a half. Just follow the river between places to abseil, natural pools and other waterfalls.
To return to the shuttle, it will take about 20 minutes. The ascent will be at each one’s rythm, the head filled with beautiful images.
What to bring ?
You have to plan your own transport to Rousses, or share the transport with other persons of the group.
Everyone must have a swimsuit and sneakers.
The rest of the technical equipment is provided.Nothing to carry with you, however, it is wise to leave in your car a snack and water !
What is there to do around or for those who do not practice ?
Heading to Montpellier on sunny days, Mount Aigoual offers incredible views of the Mediterranean, the Alps and the Pyrenees at a glance! It is also the last inhabited weather station all year long!
Back to Millau, the causse Méjean and its rocky chaos of Nîmes le Vieux transports us through its geological formations. Further downstream on the Jonte, La Maison des Vautours allows you to relive the great story of the reintroduction of vultures, this emblematic birds on our cliffs.

What are the obligations? Contraindications ?
The river is a natural environment with its surprises and risks. Don't worry, the instructor will be there to understand them and advise you. However, it will require you to be able to walk on natural trails and rocks for half a day. It will also be necessary to be able to swim and fully immerse yourself, at least briefly!
If you have had surgery or injury in the past few months, or if you have an illness or other problem that makes you doubt on your abilities, take your doctor's opinion.
